Council Reports

The Council believes that Oregon has an opportunity to lead the nation in extending the benefits of telecommunications technology to all residents of the state, regardless of location or income. The Council believes this opportunity will only be realized with the active participation of Oregon's residents, institutions and communities.

The Council believes that for Oregon to gain the economic and social benefits of broadband digital applications it will be necessary to provide technical assistance for underserved communities, to increase the availability of broadband infrastructure and to enhance applications utilizing the infrastructure.

The Council has produced reports, concept papers, and has benefitted from presentations by subject matter experts. These documents are provided here (all are in PDF format*):

Public Safety Telecommunication Legislation Guidelines for Oregon Policy Makers, updated on July 31, 2006. Ensuring Oregon's future abilities to meet public safety telecommunication needs for day-to-day as well as emergency events means that legislators can expect that the many advocates for public safety, in all its forms, will continue to argue for improvements in public safety communications and interoperability. We offer this draft of guidelines to assist legislators and other policy makers render thoughtful and well-considered decisions. Your comments are encouraged and welcomed.
